突発! One Week to Kana

The Cover for 突発!Do any of the following apply to you?

  1. Just getting started with Japanese?
  2. Wondering how to begin?
  3. Do you want to dive in headfirst and get the beginning steps out of the way?

I know what you’re going through.  You want the fundamentals down, and you want them down fast.  You want to rip the training wheels off as soon as possible, and I’m down with that.

So I wrote this e-book.  突発! One Week to Kana.  突発 means “smash,” and I designed the book to help you smash your way to basic literacy in Japanese, with the idea of getting you familiar with the fundamentals of Japanese hiragana and katakana.

Here are some of the things  in this short 18 page e-book:

  • A description of what the two kanas are, and what they’re used for.
  • A comparison of Anki and Surusu, the two programs I use to teach myself foreign languages.
  • A step-by-step guide for getting prepared to teach yourself kana in only a week.
  • An appendix with the kana, including some rare kana that are fairly uncommon these days, plus resources from other site owners for the purpose of teaching yourself other elements of kana and Japanese.
  • A non-existent price tag.  I’m licensing it under Creative Commons, so share it with your friends when you’re done!

So if you’re feeling ready, then by all means I encourage you to download the book.  If you already know kana but you’ve got friends who still need to learn, send them a copy with a nicely worded letter giving your support.
